The Nature Park Fanes-Senes-Braies
The Nature Park Fanes-Senes-Braies and the Marebbe Valley were set under legal protection in 1980. The nature park consists of 25ha and displays an immense variety of flora and fauna as well as most interesting stone formations. Marmots, ibex, chamois and eagles, most beautiful alpine meadows, crystal clear lakes and jagged mountain peaks, colourful rhododendron and flowering Edelweiss. In winter all life is covered by a deep white snow mantle which wraps the landscape in silent mysticism and recalls the heroic legends of the Fanes Kingdom and beautiful princess Dolasilla, who fought and died for freedom and peace.
In the Nature Park House in San Vigilio you can get an idea of the natural beauties of the park and admire the 50000-year-old remains of the Conturines cave bears.
